Quick note about not being able to mount an ISO as a virtual media device on a Cisco UCS C-Series server

I was recently asked by a client about an error message he received when he tried to mount an ISO via the virtual media on one of his Cisco UCS C-Series server.  The error message he would see is the following:

The selected Virtual Media device is unavailable for mapping.

Please verify that Virtual Media is enabled on CIMC, and that no other users are using the device.

The fix is actually fairly simple, all we need to do is navigate to the Server tab, click on Remote Presence, click on the Virtual Media tab, and check the Enabled checkbox.

I don’t navigate to this tab much and it took me awhile to remember it was under the Remote Presence link so I hope to use this post in the future as instructions whenever I get asked this question.

This is the single, one-and-only, page on the entire Internet referencing that error! (or at least the only one Google could find :) )
